Liz had asked him to straighten up, so Red shuffled a few things around, cleared out spots to sit down, and shoved some things under the bed.

He's laying on the bed now with a group of cats, giving them extra attention as he waits for Liz to come in with Laura.

"One of you guys gets new digs today, how 'bout that?"

Liz tilts a small, crooked smile at him and crooks a beckoning finger.

He gives Mr. Anderson a quick scritch under the chin, then sets the cat down and moves over towards Liz, taking a seat beside her.

She swings her feet up and braces them against the opposite armrest, legs comfortably across him. She rests her hand on his near shoulder and leans up to press a kiss to his mouth.

"Thank you," she says, tiny smile still firmly in place.

His arm goes around her, and he holds her against him.

"You gave up Steve." His way of saying not everything to help Laura was his doing.

She shrugs very slightly, an easy move. "I'm pretty sure he'll stand less chance of almost being eaten by a baby dragon, with Laura," she says, light and a little wry. (She'll miss him, but A) she can visit, B) he's in good hands, and C) Red is changing the subject.) She brushes his chin with her thumb. "You were really good with her."

"Yeah?"

He loves her touch, and tilts his chin for it, eyes closing slightly.

He could say more, but would rather here what she has to say.

"Yeah," she murmurs firmly, sliding her fingers up to stroke his cheek.

That's all she wrote; sorry, Red.

He can probably feel her smile against his skin as she slips her hand out of the way and kisses his cheek, though, so it's not all bad.

He'll take a kiss, that works just fine.
