(no subject)

The door opens to a muddy, tree lined bank. The lake waves make plopping sounds as they lap against the shore and the air is filled with the sounds of insects and lake birds.

It's secluded enough, the tree line dark and save for the floating bits of wreckage not far off shore the waters are empty. Dusk is nearing and it is cool but not cold yet.

When Hellboy steps through the door he sinks to the tops of his boots in the soft mud. Looking down he grumbles and lifts a leg to pull it free.

"Welcome to Monster Island, home of snakes, beavers and our friend the Ogogpogo."

The first shot knocks it off course from gulping down Lissar, the next makes it twist in the water and let out a noise akin to a yelp, the third and its roaring in pain and anger and struggling to get back underwater.

It turns and heads for open water, cutting below the surface of the lake and trying to get away from the shots coming from land.

Lissar angles her way toward the shore where Ironhide stands. She's fairly certain that the lake monster is not going to move toward the painful things.

She's also certain that her beloved won't shoot her.

Ironhide doesn't have to put down the gun to get a good grip. It is, after all, part of his arm. He just wraps that rope around his hand instead and waits for it to go taut- which, of course, it does. With a vengeance.

He's good with that, though. Got his feet nice and anchored. There isn't an organic made that can thrash its way clear once he sets his mind to it.

The sudden jerk that puts an immediate holt to the creature's dive and even tugs it back in the water several feet is surprising and unexpected.

In anger and a panic the lake monster thrashes widly on the end of the line, caught by its tail and with no where to go.

Whipping round to investigate the snag it runs nose first into a stone fist. Again surprised it shakes off the hit only to recieve another to the chin.

That. Is. Enough.

Angered beyond anything it has ever felt before the creature tosses its head and knocks aside the red harrasing figure in the water, narrows its eyes on the rope around its tail and starts to chase it back to its source.

Like a torpedo it rips through the water back towards shore, gaining speed as it goes.

It is perfectly reasonable for Lissar to give one, single and solitary shriek as the lake monster comes sailing after her. Then she shuts up and swims for her life. She's got a lot to live for, and the majority of it is standing on the shore holding the rope. Ironhide is something worth holding onto and she keeps her eyes locked on him as she swims.

"Slaggit!" Ironhide growls, and fires on the monster- rapidly- back along its length. Ideally he'll disrupt its forward speed, and by 'disrupt' we mean 'incinerate several muscles responsible for'. It's getting its rope jerked after that. One way or another, this thing isn't gonna be moving anywhere unless he makes it move.

With a painful roar the creature cuts to the left, tossing up a large wave with the course change and handing now towards the bank away from Lissar. It isn't swimming anymore so much as it's crashing towards the rocks on built up momentum, out of control and injured.

It breaks upon the sand like a whale beaching itself and lays on its side stunned.

Lissar, shaking her hair out and looking over at the monster, nods firmly, "No injuries, no death, I would agree with you."

"Good," says Ironhide firmly, shaking out his hand a little. "You need that thing smacked around any, or are you good?"

Lissar, for her part, just wants to dry off and so she waits there while 'Hide makes his choice.

"Yeah, sure," says Ironhide, selecting a tree that looks reasonably stout and tying it up. "Gimme a second."

He steps away to an open patch of ground. There are electronic noises and metal slides over metal. A moment later-

"Hop on in," says the truck.

[identity profile] lissla-lissar.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Lissar gets the driver's seat. Hands in her lap, yes, but in the driver's seat. "He is beautiful, is he not? My apologies for the dampness, beloved."

[identity profile] not-toothfairy.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Not a problem," says the truck. "And I got a lucky scan in when I hit Earth."

He revvs his engine and heads off towards the building of which Hellboy spoke.

"My friend Ace," Lissar states firmly, "is getting married. I need males willing to remove clothing to music."

Pause.

"Ironhide likes beer." And Hellboy maybe wants one now?

[identity profile] not-toothfairy.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Beer's good," the truck confirms. "I'm not real fussy about it. It all burns up in my power core pretty much the same."

"You are male, humanoid, and possess what appears to be a well-formed body." Lissar states clinically, "Ace enjoys muscular bodies, as far as I can tell."

Ironhide is suddenly glad he's not Bumblebee.

He really doesn't want to provide a soundtrack for this.
